CITY TOURS
 
Istanbul is the city of history between East and West. The city is known to have existed for last 4,000 years and every step of its development can be traced as one walks from one area to the other. Its 4,000-year heritage is well preserved all around the city. The great civilizations such as the Eastern Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman have spread their culture in Istanbul.
We are pleased to offer the following optional city tours for ETA participants.
 
 Highlights of Istanbul 1(Full Day)
 September 19, Sunday

This full day program includes the most fascinated and important historical points of the city. The tour will depart from the Convention Center in the morning. First stop will be the Hippodrome square and Blue Mosque, the supremely elegant, imperial six minaret mosque of Sultan Ahmet I. Next visit will be to the St. Sophia, the magnificent Byzantine Church of all times, one of the finest and largest architectural works of art in the world. After lunch in a local restaurant, Topkapı Palace, which was once the great palace of Ottoman Sultans from 15th to 19th centuries, will be visited. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Highlights of Istanbul 2 (Half Day)
September 20, Monday

This half-day tour will begin with the visit to Chora Church & Museum, in which the mosaics and frescoes are the most beautiful examples of the last period of Byzantine art.Next visit will be to the Underground Cistern, the biggest and the most magnificent underground cistern, including the two Medusa’s head columns – the great examples of the Roman Age art sculptures - constructed by Emperor Justinianus The First (527-567 A.D). The tour will end with the Spice Market at noon.

 
Bosphorus Tour (Full Day)
September 21, Tuesday

During this program you will enjoy the beautiful Bosphorus on a private boat. The boat will depart on European side and cross the Bosphorus. You will be disembarked at Beylerbeyi, a small village located in Asian side, and visit the Beylerbeyi Palace, the 19th century summer palace of Ottoman Sultans. After lunch in a local restaurant the boat will take you back to the European side. The tour will continue with shopping in Grand Bazaar.

Imperial Tour (Full Day)
September 21, Tuesday
At this full-day program, first visit will be to the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent, built by the great architect Sinan. Next visit will be the Museum of Turkish & Islamic Art, former palace of Ibrahim Pasha, today a museum in which you can see the masterpieces of Turkish and Islamic Art from early ages of 19th century. After lunch in the area, you will have the opportunity of enjoying the Grand Bazaar that covers around 3.000 stores.
